First licensed as a teenager but recently returned to amateur radio after a break following children and a waning interest in my youth after everyone moved seemingly wholesale to packet radio. This didn't float my boat despite having the Commodore 64 computer and 2m rig to have set up for that.

Prior member of RAYNET and recently joined RSGB and EYRG after taking the dog for a walk close to what I suspected correctly was the repeater site and hearing the RSGB broadcast on a Sunday morning.

Radio and electronics has fascinated my since I was primary school child when I first began experimenting with electronics. I am also active in amateur theatre sound and light. I have designed and built a few projects including a 10A linear 13.8V PSU and most recently a stage ringer box to make telephones ring on stage rather than use a sound effect from a loudspeaker.

Have purchased new 2m/70cm radio as my Kenwood TM221ES seems very unhappy and the Yaesu FT23R is lost in the house somewhere although I have found the charger and speaker/mic. Looking to get restarted. Not being a packet fan, I am not sure yet what I think to all the new digital modes but I am sure the original CW people said that about phone and SSB once upon a time. I have also purchased a receiver for 23cm TV and plan to try and pick up the repeater after G3GJA kindly ran a few propagation calculations for me.

Just need to tell the XYL that I plan to put a Diamond X50N and a 23cm beam up on the side of the house.
