The East Yorkshire Repeater Group (EYRG) is pleased to announce that a new 70cms. D-STAR repeater, GB7HU has been commissioned in East Yorkshire.
The new service is the culmination of several years of planning by their committee, along with a successful grant of £9,466 received from the National Lottery (Big Lottery fund). The group has also purchased several D-STAR transceivers, a high quality generator for use with emergency communications in East Yorkshire. The new Repeater GB7HU was switched on by the RSGB DRM for East Yorkshire, Mario Brashill G2DPA. The first contact was made by the NOV holder, Andy Russell G0VRM, with Clive Reynolds G3GJA, and Lyndon Reynolds M0LDR. An official opening ceremony with members present will take place soon. Many other items have also been purchased by the EYRG for their continued RCF training programme.

A great day for the EYRG! Iwould like to thank all of the EYRG committee for their hard work over the last few years in seeing this project completed. I also think it only fair to also thank the supplier of our D-STAR Repeater, radios and equipment, Lee Marsh M0LAM, of LAM Communications (LAMCO) & Icom UK for their valued help & assistance. Thank you all.

Andy G0VRM, Clive G3GJA, Lyndon M0LDR & and mysef left Hull at around 0930hrs on route to LAMCO in Barnsley with our fast (very fast!) Chauffeur Clive G3GJA and arrived in what seemed to be 10 minutes later. After a lengthy chat and photo call at LAMCO, it was then back to Andy's QTH to be greeted by Nicky with pizza & tea. Then down to the business in hand and loading our new toy with some instalation software. Then a trip to our repeater site at Weedley to install GB7HU. The first QSO on GB7HU was made at exactly 1530hrs. by Andy G0VRM with Clive G3GJA and Lyndon M0LDR. A great day out was had by all!

The system is due to have some minor modifications over the weekend - some of the interconnects used internally in the repeater (as supplied by ICOM) and our interconnections between the repeater and the two cavity filters on the input / output which were as used on GB3HU, will be replaced with RG214 double-screened silver plated cable to help increase the isolation between the input and output to improve the receieve sensitivity...

Another issue relating to the repeater is that the callsign setup must be set up as follows:

      MY: C Q C Q C Q _ _ (where "_" represents a space)
      RPT1: G B 7 H U _ _ B
      RPT2: not used
      UR: not used
      73 de Andy
